Last season’s games were two tight matches and this one proved to be no different . Manortown played against a strong wind but still had the better of the first half, working the ball up the pitch continuously with focus and care, while keeping Castleknock away from their goal.
Kian, with a fine performance throughout the game, opening the scoring with a cross shot that nestled in the top corner and Manortown went into half time one-up.
The second half started with Castleknock in the ascendency and Manortown needed Max to come up with a fine save down to his right to keep them in the lead.
After some changes in midfield, with Sam and Cameron coming in, Manortown took back control of the game. It was Cameron’s first time playing in the middle but he looked like he had always played there. Wenda added to his goal last week in the Cup, and Manortown went two up.

Castleknock pushed hard to get back into the game, but Manortown’s back line were not for breaking. Another solid performance from Luke at centre half (reverting back to the position that he won Player of the Year from a couple of seasons ago), and a complete all-round performance from Ryan O’Reilly at left back kept Manortown going forward and kept the back door closed.
It is very early in the season, with only 3 league games played for the U15’s, but they have started strong and are looking forward to whatever challenges lie ahead.
